summary of this video
The H1B visa is a U.S. work visa that allows companies to hire foreign talent, particularly in fields like engineering and technology, when skilled American workers are unavailable. There is a cap of 65,000 H1B visas issued annually, plus 20,000 for advanced degree holders from U.S. universities. Tech companies like Google and Tesla use it to bring top global talent, such as engineers from India, to the U.S. Critics, especially some Republicans, argue that H1Bs displace American workers, but supporters contend they complement U.S. talent, filling gaps and enabling Americans to focus on critical sectors like defense.
Indians dominate the tech field due to cultural emphasis on STEM education, with millions of engineers graduating annually. Many U.S. computer science students, on the other hand, often drop out when faced with challenges. The H1B program also benefits national defense by allowing foreign talent to fill private sector roles, freeing U.S. citizens to focus on classified government work. In essence, H1Bs help balance the talent pool between the commercial and defense sectors.
Lol, naw. Ignorant take.
H1B visas only help wealthy people get alternative workers under THEIR chosen circumstances. Don’t like hiring tech workers in California because they have protections under the law, won’t work for slave wages, can’t be “aged out”, and you have no leverage over them? Simple answer: H1B worker.
Dafuq outta here with your nonsense.
Spoken like someone who’s never even looked at the qualifications for a TS/SCI (which is what these “good jobs” are going to require you to get).
It’s an absolute giant investment in time and energy and the requirements disqualify a shitload of people - it’s not just “be a US citizen”.
And, even if you don’t step on any mines while getting it, keeping it is also not a guaranteed thing: there’s a lot of shit that can wreck you later, too.
